Ecosystem Calamity: Climate Change and Pollution Threaten Biodiversity and Wildlife, Part 7 of a Multi-part Series

“One of the biggest threats to all bees right now are pesticides.” “The fact is that insects, like pollinators, are so vital to all of the ecosystems in the world. So, you would see these cascading effects across all ecosystems in the world.”

In 2024, the average global sea surface temperature reached an all-time high. “Seventy-seven percent of the world’s coral reefs have experienced ‘bleaching level heat stress’ over the last 22 months. Since 25% of marine life rely on coral reefs, what happens to them if the corals around them die?”

Another marine species in decline are the North American Pacific Coast gray whale-people, whose numbers have dropped to their lowest level in more than 50 years. A new study shows that these Oregon whale-people have recently been getting shorter. There’s been a lot of evidence that, when animals’ body shape changes and particularly shrinks, that could be early warning signs that the population is, leaning towards declining or maybe even collapse.

A recent study by the World Wildlife Foundation found that our world is rapidly approaching an irreversible tipping point. The report states that the primary cause of biodiversity loss is unsustainable food production and consumption.

Our Most Courageous Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) has often reminded us that industrial animal-people raising operations are the primary cause of deforestation, soil degradation, pollution, and climate change, all of which result in biodiversity loss. “According to the United Nations, animal-people livestock is the main reason for deforestation and the loss of our vital trees, which in turn is causing tragic declines in natural biodiversity. Stop it now and turn to the merciful way of life, the natural way of life that God intended us to live, which is the vegan diet. This will restore the conscience of every person who adopts such a lifestyle as well as the planet itself.”
